I am an intermediate/senior teacher specializing in math and science. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph, and obtained my Bachelor of Education from the University of Ottawa in 1999. Since that time I have continually updated my skills and knowledge, including undertaking additional educational studies at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, numerous coaching certificates, and most recently, obtaining a qualification in the Healthy Habits of Mind learning strategies.
As a teacher with 17 years experience, within a variety of settings, I have learned a great deal about this most rewarding of professions. However, I remain as enthusiastic about teaching today as I was in my first year.
I am happy to have joined the team here at Sevenoaks and am very much looking forward to building a tightly knit and supportive community. A small school setting and small class sizes provide an amazing array of opportunities for the student and allow the teacher to develop a deeper understanding of each child in their charge.
I am a keen sportsman and am passionate about my role as a coach. I am proud of my achievements in leading numerous teams to championships in a variety of sports and in training several athletes who went on to play professionally and/or represent their country. As such, one of my goals is to build the sporting program here at Sevenoaks and for the Storm to become a growing force in the Small Schools Athletic Federation (SSAF).
Overall, I look forward to helping build upon the already strong foundation that we have here at Sevenoaks Academy.
