My name is Cherie Hughes and I am the Principal and junior/intermediate teacher at Sevenoaks Academy. I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Education (Hons) in Physical Education and French. I have completed several courses in the area of middle management, behaviour management & tracking, and personal, social & health education. I have also served as the sports secretary for Hyndburn & Ribble Valley District, a year level co-ordinator, and elementary liaison co-ordinator. In 2014, I completed an additional teaching qualification in Dramatic Arts, as I feel it is imperative to build on current practices and expand my skill sets. I have been teaching for 19 years in both high school and elementary settings.
I am thoroughly enjoying my time here at Sevenoaks Academy, especially the fact that I can adapt my teaching to suit the needs of each individual student in a small classroom environment. The students not only progress academically but socially too! At Sevenoaks we help students grow into capable, independent and responsible young people; with a passion and love for learning.
I am also a sports enthusiast and have been involved in coaching to a high level for over 19 years. I embrace any opportunity to get involved or organize clubs and activities.
